Our approach

We insure the work we know.

Commercial insurers price sprinkler contractors alongside every other construction trade. Clean operators carry the cost of losses they never caused, and every premium dollar leaves the trade for good.

Our captive brings together fire protection companies committed to strong safety practices and responsible risk management.

The goal is to give members greater control over their insurance costs and an opportunity to share in the financial benefits of strong collective performance. By managing claims and expenses effectively, we aim to retain more value within the membership and reduce the long-term cost of insurance.

Savings and rebates depend on the captive's results, funding requirements and program terms.

What members get

Built for our trade.

Members share the upside

Members receive rebates tied to pool results. The rebate schedule is outlined in the member area.

Cover written for sprinkler work

Liability, errors and omissions, pollution and umbrella cover shaped around how fire protection contractors actually work.

Claims defended

An on-staff forensic insurance adjuster, familiar with our industry and hired to defend sprinkler claims. Independent forensic review of every claim over $10,000 keeps nuisance claims out of the pool.

Clean records rewarded

An Elite tier for five years without a major claim, with a clear path in for everyone else.

How a captive works

Your premium works for the trade.

  1. Members pay premium

Each member pays a premium based on its own operations and loss history, priced by an independent actuary.

  2. The Alliance pays claims

Claims are paid from the pool. Large losses are passed to reinsurers, so one bad year cannot sink the captive.

  3. Capital stays in reserve

Alberta sets minimum capital for association captives. That capital and the claim reserves are held before any rebates are paid.

  4. Rebates return to members

When claims run lower than priced, members receive rebates instead of the savings staying with an outside insurer.

Member invitation.

The member invitation sets out the offer: who we are, what members receive, how claims are handled, and how the Alliance Risk Platform supports every install.

Coverage terms and the association agreement are shared in the confidential briefing, under a signed non-disclosure agreement.
